Ethnic, religious conflicts instigated for Israels sake: Iranian envoy

Iranian Ambassador to Amman Mostafa Moslehzadeh says outsiders seek to launch ethnic and Shia-Sunni conflicts in the region for the sake of Israel.
In a meeting with Acting Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas, the Iranian envoy submitted to him a message by president-elect Hassan Rohani in response to Abbass congratulatory message over Rohanis election win. The two sides also discussed regional developments.
It is obvious that foreigners seek to provoke ethnic and Shia-Sunni wars to consign to oblivion the Israeli crimes as well as the issue of Palestine, which is the prime concern for the Muslim world, Moslehzadeh said.
Pointing to instability, riot, and civil war in some regional countries, the Iranian envoy said that certain regional governments and extremist groups, including Salafis, fuel insecurity and carry out massacres in the region.

This is while the Islamic Republic of Iran favors a political settlement of the crises through halting armed measures, holding dialog among both sides to the conflict, holding elections, holding reforms based on public demands and the maintenance of the countries territorial integrity, which can lead to an end to violence and bloodshed, Moslehzadeh pointed out.

Abbas, for his part, appreciated Rohanis message and wished him success.

Regarding regional developments, Abbas acknowledged that the Palestinian issue was the number one priority for the Islamic world. He also described the situation in Syria as grievous, calling for a peaceful solution to the ongoing crisis in the Arab country.

Abbas also said that extremists have turned into a nuisance for countries because they are fomenting Sunni-Shia rifts although there has been peaceful coexistence among all Muslims.

Foreign-sponsored militancy in Syria, which erupted in March 2011, has claimed the lives of many people, including large numbers of Syrian soldiers and security personnel.
