Calligraphic artworks to go under hammer in Tehran
A collection of calligraphy works and Quranic art pieces created by Iranian calligraphy masters are to be auctioned at the capital city of Tehran.
The event will be the second auction of calligraphy works after the first edition held last year, the director of the auction Mohammad Reza Kamarei announced.

Mohammad Ehsai, Yadollah Kaboli, Mojtaba Sabzeh, Ali Ganji, Elaheh Khatami, Rasoul Moradi, Azim Fallah, Mojtaba Karami, Hossein Salehi and Gholam Hossein Amirkhani are among the artists whose works will be represented at the event.

The auction is also to host a poster created by the late giant of Iranian graphic art Morteza Momayyez. The poster depicts an image inspired by Quranic stories.

The last years top-priced work belonged to Jalil Rasoulis calligraphic painting titledBismillah Bird.

Bismillah Birdfeatures a bird-shaped calligraphy of Bismillah in oil and acrylics on two plates of gold in size of 2X2 meters.

Iran as one of the leading countries in art of calligraphy has held various international exhibitions during recent years. Many eminent Iranian calligraphers have been also honored in a number of international competitions so far.

The second auction of Iranian calligraphy works is scheduled to take place in early August.
