Iranian researchers produce flexible electronically-conductive textiles
TEHRAN (ISNA)- A group of Iranian researchers at Islamic Azad University, Yazd Province, have produced electronically-conductive textiles, using nano-graphene sheets, whose conductivity can be adjusted.
In this research, nano-graphene sheets have been employed for producing electronically conductive cotton textiles. The researchers have also investigated different factors such as regenerative material and its density, the temperature, reaction time and also conductance cover. The produced fabrics in the research are applicable in providing electronic, smart, electromagnetic shield, water proof and versatile textiles.

Mohammad Shateri Khalil Abad, an Iranian researcher PhD student in textile chemistry, said the research aims at studying the possibility of using nano-graphene sheets in production of conductive coatings on the surface of textiles. The effects of different factors on the amount of fabrics conductivity and graphene coatings on changing colors, mechanical qualities and the rate of fabrics transparency have also been studied.

Graphene can be replaced by other conductive materials such as conductive polymers, indium tin oxide, gold nano-coatings and carbon nano-tubes which are of some problems like lack of similar coating, frangibility, high prices, lack of good absorption and low instability.

The produced fabrics can be used in producing flexible electronic instruments such as sensors, capacitors, electrodes, solar cells, etc.

The outcome of the study has been published in the journal of Carbohydrate Polymers journal.
