Morsi supporters stay on Cairo streets

The supporters of Egypts ousted President Mohamed Morsi have remained on the streets of the capital, Cairo, in the early hours of Saturday, emphasizing their demand that he be reinstated.
The Muslim Brotherhood, from which Morsi emerged, called on Friday for a day of marching on, more than a week after the army overthrew Egypt's first freely-elected president.

As midnight passed, huge crowds of pro-Morsi demonstrators were still out near the Defense Ministry and outside the Rabaa al-Adawiya Mosque in Cairo.

The demonstrators have vowed to continue their campaign until Morsis reinstatement
Our first demand is the return of our legitimate president to run the country again, this demand is not negotiable and we demand for a parliamentary council as soon as possible, said a pro-Morsi protester.
Another demonstrator added that Morsi should be returned to power and restored in his palace.

On Friday, similar demonstrations were also held in different cities across the country including Giza and the northern city of Alexandria.

The demonstrators waved banners with Morsis images and denounced the armys toppling of the former president. They also called Egyptian army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi a traitor.

Meanwhile, the anti-Morsi camp staged protests in Cairos iconic Liberation Square.

Egypts new military-backed administration has intensified its crackdown on the Brotherhood leadership by issuing arrest warrants its members.

On July 3, the Egyptian army announced that Morsi was no longer in office and declared that the head of the Supreme Constitutional Court, Adli Mansour had been appointed as the new interim president.

Since then, Egypt has been the scene of rival rallies and clashes between thousands of the supporters and opponents of the ousted president.
