Report: Iran police kill suspected suicide bomber

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- An Iranian news website is reporting that police have shot to death a man suspected of planning a suicide bombing in southeastern Iran.
The Tuesday report by Tasnim says the man planned to approach police headquarters in the port city of Chabahar in Sistan-Baluchistan Province.

It said some police were injured during the operation that led to the suspect's death, although it did not elaborate.

The Sunni Muslim militant Jundallah group, which says it is fighting for the rights of Sunnis and the Baluch ethnic minority in mainly Shiite Muslim Iran, has been involved in sporadic bombings in the region in the past.
