Gazans preparing for Ramadan amid Israeli blockade
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are getting ready for the Holy month of Ramadan.
Its the seventh time for the 1 point 7 million Gaza residents to spend Ramadan amid the crippling Israeli blockade which has sharply reduced the foodstuff in the coastal enclave. The political turmoil in Egypt and its armys recent crackdown on tunnels on the border with Gaza is also affecting the supply of goods to Gaza

While dealing with high poverty and unemployment rates, Gazan families are struggling to buy the necessary supplies due to the dire economic situation in the tiny coastal enclave.

The markets are packed with people but shop owners complain about the weak purchasing power.

The Holy month Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims obliged to abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk in this month.

Gazans will observe fasting like other Muslims around the world during the holy month of Ramadan despite the Israeli-imposed blockade.
