Irans Rohani pledges to bolster cordial ties with countries

Iranian President-elect Hassan Rohani has pledged to improve amicable relations with countries based on mutual respect and interests as well as good neighborliness.
In a message to Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, Rohani touched upon the age-old and cordial ties between Tehran and Rome, adding that mutual bonds between the two nations have laid the groundwork for lasting bilateral cooperation.

Rohani thanked Napolitano for having sent him a congratulatory message over his victory in Irans presidential election on June 14.

The Iranian president-elect expressed hope that Tehran and Rome would further enhance reciprocal ties in all fields and at all levels based on mutual respect and interests.

In response to a congratulatory message from Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki, Rohani said his administration would do its best to further expand the relations between the two countries.

The promotion of friendly ties has always been a priority of Irans foreign policy, Rohani said.

In another message to Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, the Iranian president-elect expressed hope that Tehran and Brasilia would further boost their cooperation during his tenure.

Also, in response to Sudanese President Omar al-Bashirs congratulatory message, Rohani said he would seek to forge closer ties with Khartoum during his tenure.

He said the promotion of ties with Sudan has always been a central plank of Irans foreign policy.

In his message to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Rohani stressed the importance of bolstering mutual relations with neighboring countries based on good neighborliness and mutual respect.

Rohani won Iran's 11th presidential election, garnering over 18 million of more than 36 million ballots. The voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent.
