Rohani pledges to improve respectful ties with countries

Iranian president-elect Hassan Rohani says his administration will try to improve relations with world countries through understanding, confidence-building and mutual respect.
In response to a congratulatory message by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Rohani said on Monday that his administration would bring peace and friendship for all world nations.

He emphasized that as the next president of Iran, he would spare no effort to achieve this goal by relying on deep-rooted Iranian civilization and rich Islamic culture.

Rohani expressed hope that Iran and Russia would bolster historical ties and cooperate in all fields.

On June 16, Putin congratulated Irans president-elect on his victory in the country's presidential election, announcing readiness to expand bilateral relations with Tehran.

"Putin expressed confidence that Hassan Rohani's work on this high post will promote the flourishing of (Russias) friend Iran and further strengthen Russian-Iranian relations," a Kremlin message to Irans president-elect said.

Rohani emerged victorious in Irans 11th presidential election of June 14, which was marked by a high voter turnout, winning 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704,156 ballots counted. The voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent, according to Irans Interior Ministry.

In response to a congratulatory message by Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan, Rohani said his administration would expand ties with Armenia in all fields based on understanding, trust and mutual respect.

The Iranian president-elect also responded to Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegovic and said the two countries would enjoy sustainable relations in the future.

Rohani added that his administration would place emphasis on further strengthening of mutual ties.
