Official: Iraq ranks 1st in importing appliances from Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iraq ranks first in importing domestic appliances from Iran, a provincial official announced.

Iraq, receiving 72 percent of Iranian exports, is the number one importer of domestic appliances from Iran, Deputy Head of Trade Development Organization Kyoumars Fathollah-Kermanshahi said on Monday.

Iran's export of house appliances in the previous Iranian calendar year rose by 15.7 percent compared with the preceding year, he added.

He said that Iraq, Afghanistan, Italy, United Arab Emirates and Kazakhstan are the main destinations for Irans domestic appliances.

Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, during the 2003 US invasion of the Muslim country.

Both sides are working on a series of plans to take wide strides in expanding their ties, in economic fields in particular.
