Iran-Serbia trade volume hits USD15.5 mn

A high-ranking business official says the volume of trade between Iran and Serbia has been on the rise over the past few years and reached USD 15.5 million in 2012.
Head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Hamid Safdel said on Wednesday that Serbia is among the largest trading partners of Iran, and the Balkan country has offered Iran substantial assistance with regards to the construction of power plants, farming plants and factories.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Serbian Ambassador to Iran Alexander Tasich.

Safdel added that capacities, potentials and cooperation opportunities must be explored in order to enhance economic ties between Tehran and Belgrade.

He further noted that Irans non-oil exports to Serbia amounted to USD 2.5 million, while imports totaled USD 13 million.

Nuts, rugs, zinc, light lubricants, petrochemical products and shoes were the main commodities exported to Serbia, while passenger train cars, locomotives and tractor spare parts, corn, fuel pumps, machinery, paper, cardboard and ball bearings were the main goods imported from the Balkan country.
