Reformist campaigns take on nationwide scope

Presidential campaigns of reformist candidates Hassan Rohani and Mohammad Reza Aref have taken on a nationwide scope, and reached major Iranian cities such as Ahvaz, Isfahan, Qazvin and Zanjan.
Addressing their supporters from different walks of life, the candidates touched on a range of topics, including the economy, foreign policy, and domestic issues.

The two candidates emphasized that, if elected president, they would adopt a moderate policy in foreign and domestic affairs.

They said fluctuations in the foreign exchange market will have to stop for any future economic policy to succeed.

The reformist presidential contenders have maintained on several occasions that they will not step aside in favor of each other ahead of the presidential race.

Aref and Rohani are facing six rivals in the upcoming election, including Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, lawmaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, Secretary of Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei, former Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election.

Iranians will go to the polls in the nations 11th presidential election on June 14. Over 66,000 polling stations will be set up across the country. Expatriates will be also able to cast ballots at 285 polling stations that will be set up in their respective countries.
