Pakistan, Iran sign accord for cooperation at sea

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran have signed an agreement for strengthening cooperation at sea and ocean.
The agreement was signed by the head of Iran's Oceanology Institute Vahid Chegini and his Pakistani counterpart Ali Rashid Tabriz on Monday, IRNA news agency reporetd.

Rashid Tabriz and Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Science and Technology Amjad Hossein, are currently in Iran to hold talks in the field.

Speaking on the occasion, Chegini said that the two countries could use each other's facilities in the research projects at sea and ocean.

Exchange of students and instructors, organizing workshops and joint meetings, undertaking joint research studies and educational cooperation are among the items of the agreement, he said.

Establishing a regional oceanology center of West Asia has also been enshrined in the agreement, Chegini said.

Rashid Tabriz, for his part, voiced Pakistan's readiness to promote mutual cooperation.
