Russia urges swift resumption of Iran-P5+1 talks
Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has called on Iran and the P5+1 group of world powers to resume talks mainly on the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program as soon as possible.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Ryabkov added that Russia proposes the Kazakh city of Almaty as a potential venue for talks between Tehran and the P5+1.
We dont care that much about the venue but it should suit all parties to the talks. Weve already held two efficient rounds of negotiations in Almaty so we can stick with that place, the official stated.
Iran and the P5+1 group of world powers - Russia, China, France, Britain, and the US plus Germany - have held several rounds of talks, mainly over the Iranian nuclear energy program.

The latest round of negotiations between the two sides was held in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 16. Two earlier meetings were also been held in the Kazakh city of Almaty on April 5-6 and February 26-27.

The West led by the United States accuses Iran of potentially using its nuclear energy program as a cover for military purposes.

Iran has vehemently rejected the allegation, arguing that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
