Elections show Iran's true democratic nature: Rohani

Elections show Iran
Iranian presidential candidate Hassan Rohani says elections demonstrate the true democratic nature of the Islamic Republic and are a translation of national resolve.
Speaking to a group of university students in Tehran on Monday, the Reformist candidate added that all Iranians should enjoy their basic rights equally and the nations rights must be a main priority for every administration.

Rohani, who is president of the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Research, described students as national assets, stressing that they can help state officials in all managerial positions.

The presidential candidate emphasized that the existence of active and dynamic political parties in the country is important.
Political parties should be expanded within the framework of the Constitution as the principles of the sovereignty and nation, Rohani said.
Rohani is facing seven rivals in the upcoming election. Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Former Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Velayati, lawmaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, Secretary of Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei, former First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi are also running for president.
