Iran Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has criticized the Turkish foreign ministers remarks about Tehran, saying supporting extremists only fuels tension in the region and intensifies the Syria crisis.Larijani said on Sunday that Ahmet Davutoglus accusations against Iran were untrue and wrong.
Despite the unfounded allegations, no Iranian military forces or advisors are present in Syria, but, unfortunately, certain regional countries are interfering in Syrias internal affairs and fanning the flames of the conflict in the country by sending arms for extremist and terrorist groups, Iranian ambassador to the United Nations Mohammad Khazaei said on Saturday.
The crisis in Syria began in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of soldiers and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
According to a report published in French dailyLe Monde, around 200 French nationals have traveled to Syria in the past year to join foreign-backed militants fighting the government of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.
On May 18, Assad said militants from 29 different countries are fighting against the government in different parts of the country.
From the beginning, the Islamic Republic believed that the Syria issue must be resolved through political negotiations. Sending arms and helping extremists is merely a form of warmongering in the region that fuels the crisis, Larijani added.
The Iranian official said after causing a great deal of financial and human cost, today the world has reached the same conclusion, adding that those who did not analyze the situation correctly should now change their course instead of accusing others.
