Next president must restore public trust: Velayati
Iran presidential candidate Ali Akbar Velayati says the next administration must feel obligated to restore public trust.
Velayati, a former foreign minister, said the priorities of the next administration will be to improve public welfare, restruct the national economy and reform the foreign policy.

He also pledged to pay special attention to national unity, cooperation and teamwork in the event of his victory in the June 14 election.

Velayati is currently serving as advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on international affairs.

He is facing seven rivals in the upcoming election. Velayati will be facing lawmaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, President of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Hassan Rohani, former First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi.
