Iranian MPs complain against present and former presidents

Iranian MPs complain against present and former presidents
Some 150 Iranian members of parliament have appealed to the Judiciary System against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
They addressed Iran's Judiciary System with a request to proceed on Ahmadienejad's law violation due to his "apparent support" for a candidate in the upcoming presidential election.

Ahmadinejad was accompanying the head of his office Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei during his registration for the presidential election race at Iran's Interior Ministry on May 11.

Iranian President supports Mashaei, who also is the father-in-law of Ahmadinejad's son.
During Mashaei's registration, Ahmadinejad said "I am Mashaei and Mashaei is me".
Iranian MPs urged that the president doesn't have any right to support or oppose any candidate.

Earlier, the spokesman for Iran's Guardian Council Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei criticized Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over accompanying Mashaei in the latter's presidential election registration, saying this action was illegal and the case submitted to the Judiciary System needs to be proceeded on.

The next presidential elections in Iran are planned to be held on June 14, 2013.

The voters will select the successor of the current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the elections for the third term in accordance with the country's constitutional laws.

Some representatives of the ruling Conservative Coalition have accused Mashei in stands against Islamic rules, publishing deviant ideas and transgressing the commandments of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamanei.

It's not clear whether Mashaei would be able to pass the Guardian Council's vetting for his qualifications or not.

Mashaei said he would respect laws in case his qualifications are not approved by the Guardian Council.

However, Ahmadinejad, during several recent speeches, threatened his rivals by unveiling their corruption cases and saying "everyone has the right to run elections and nobody can stop free elections".

Another scroll against ex-president

Some 150 Iranian MPs also signed a scroll which condemns Iranian ex-president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on May 12.

They condemned Rafsanjani, who joined the presidential race on May 11, due to his speech about Israel about two weeks ago.

Rafsanjani said that "Iran doesn't have any interest in involving in the war with Israel. However, if the Arab countries begin the war with Israel, we can support them".
Iranian MPs said this is against thoughts and ideals of Iran's former and current leaders, Ayatollah Ruholllah Khomeini and Ayatollah Ali Khameni's.

During last days, criticisms against Mashaei and Rajsanfani have intensified.

The Principlist and Conservative groups criticize Rafsanjani for "his uncertain position about the 2009 elections sedition".

Iranian authorities refer to unrests and demonstrations following the announcement of the result of presidential elections as "sedition".

After the presidential elections in May 2009, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's rivals Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi claimed large irregularities in the results. Millions of Iranians also protested against the results.

According to official results, Mousavi gathered 13 million votes against Ahmadinejad's 24.5 milion votes.

Mousavi and Karroubi were under house arrest for several months after the elections.

Iranian major reformist leader, ex-president Mohammad Khatami announced his support for Rafsanjani on May 11.
