Iran FM will visit Jordan to discuss Syria crisis: Mehmanparast

Iran Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is to pay an official visit to Jordan to hold talks with senior Jordanian officials and find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast made the announcement in a Sunday press conference.
Considering the Islamic Republic of Irans rotating presidency over the Non-Aligned Movement and the importance of continuing consultations and making use of regional capacities to resolve the ongoing crisis in Syria through a political approach and national Syrian-Syrian talks, our foreign minister will soon head for the Jordanian capital [Amman] at the head of a delegation, he said.
During his two-day stay in Amman, Salehi will pursue a new round of joint, constructive efforts by influential regional countries to settle the Syrian unrest given the prominent roles of Iran and Jordan in the region, Mehmanparast added.

Syrian state television reported on Sunday that Israel has attacked the Jamraya Research Center, located northwest of the capital, Damascus. The center had been targeted by another Israeli airstrike back in January.

The Sunday attack came shortly after Tel Aviv confirmed that its warplanes had hit another target in Syria on Friday.

The Iranian Foreign Minister earlier called on Egypt to hold urgent quartet talks to find a solution to the crisis in Syria, voicing Tehrans readiness to host or attend the negotiations in any country and at any level.

During a summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Mecca in August 2012, Egypts President Mohamed Morsi presented an initiative to establish a contact group on Syria comprising Iran, Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.
