President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad played down the effectiveness of the US-led western sanctions against Iran, and said that the Iranian nation will not give in its indispensible right to nuclear technology under the West's pressures, IRNA news agency reported.
President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in his first meeting with the Iranian lawmakers in the new Iranian year.

'The Iranian nation has proved that it will not quit its principles and ideals under the pressures and psychological war,' Ahmadinejad said.

He noted that the government and parliament should have consensus in order to be able to overcome the pressures.
