Iranians are preparing to welcome the traditional Nowruz

With only days remaining to the end of the current Iranian year, people are busy preparing themselves for the arrival of Nowruz or the Persian New Year. Iranians give their homes a thorough spring clean in the days leading up to Nowruz. They even buy themselves at least one new outfit so that they too feel fresh and rejuvenated. Buying seven items starting with letter S known as Haft-Seen is also another part of the Nowruz traditions. For Iranians, Nowruz is a celebration of renewal and change, a time to visit relatives and friends, and pay respect to senior family members. But they dont ever forget their loved ones who died the previous years. Accordingly on the last Thursday and Friday of the year they visit the graves of their deceased ones to pay respect to them once again. in 2010, the United Nations General Assembly recognized March 21 as the International Day of Nowruz, describing it as a spring festival of Persian origin which world countries should draw on to promote peace and goodwill.
