Iran congratulates China’s new president

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has congratulated China’s new President Xi Jinping after he was formally appointed to the position.
In his Thursday message, Ahmadinejad said the Iranian and Chinese people have always worked to promote peace and friendship among all nations.

Now that the international community is in need of important concepts such as honesty, friendship, security and cooperation, the Iranian and Chinese nations shoulder “extra and very specific” responsibility to promote such ideas, Ahmadinejad stated.
“Collective cooperation in international management and reform of unfair structures are among the most important principles to manage the world in a better way - which will not be achieved but through convergence,” the Iranian chief executive said.
Ahmadinejad wished success and prosperity for the new Chinese president.

On Thursday, China’s National People’s Congress appointed Xi Jinping, the head of the Communist Party, as the country’s new president. The appointment came four months after the 59-year-old leader succeeded President Hu Jintao as the head of the ruling party in November.

The Iranian president also sent a separate message to the former Chinese president and praised his constructive efforts to strengthen Tehran-Beijing ties.

Cordial relations between Iran and China have always been based on mutual respect and they have shown considerable progress during recent years, Ahmadinejad said.
