Dialogue is the sole solution to Iran's nuclear issue - NAM

VIENNA, March 6 (Bernama) -- The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states said that diplomacy and dialogue are the only solution to Iran's nuclear issue, Iran's IRNA reported.
In a statement, NAM underlines inalienable rights of all countries for development, research, production and use of atomic energy for peaceful goals without any kind of discrimination and upon lawful obligations.

The statement was read at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors meeting Tuesday.

NAM expressesed its appreciation to IAEA Director General, Yukiya Amano, for his report on Iran's implementation of safeguard agreement and for his impartiality and professionalism regarding the agency's activities on the implementation of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in Iran.

The movement also described the establishment of Nuclear Weapon Free Zone (NWFZ) in the Middle East as a positive step in the world nuclear disarmament.

The 120-member states organisation reiterated its support for the establishment of such a region upon resolutions of the UN General Assembly and the Security Council.

It comfirmed the immunity of peaceful nuclear activities and described any attack or threat against nuclear installations as violation of international laws and principles of the UN Charter and IAEA regulations.

NAM also welcomed constant cooperation between IAEA and Iran as stated in the director-general's latest report.
