Iran slams latest UN human rights report
The Iranian Judiciarys Human Rights Committee (HRC) has dismissed a recent report by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, saying the report aims at intensifying pressure on the Islamic Republic.
This report has been drafted under the influence of certain hostile Western governments to mount psychological and propaganda pressure on Iran and lacks legal credibility, read a Tuesday statement issued by the committee.

In his fourth report in late February, Shaheed once again accused Iran of violations of human rights.

The report indicates that taking advantage of the weak and flawed structure of the UN for illegitimate and political purposes such as spreading Islamophobia and promoting Western-Zionist unilateralism are still on agenda in the West.

The HRC expressed regret that the UN investigator has failed to even mention the US-led unilateral sanctions against the Iranian nation.
The statement went on to ask if this meaningful silence of the UN rapporteur can be interpreted as consent to the violation of the rights of all Iranians that have been the main target of the illegal sanctions.
The statement added that any reliable report must ensure a transparent, impartial, and logical methodology.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has a transparent constitution, comprehensive laws and a valuable civil framework that will not be distorted by such propagandist tactics under the title of "reporting on human rights" and through abusing the international media, the statement concluded.

On June 17, 2011, the UN Human Rights Council, under pressure from the United States and its allies, named former Maldivian Foreign Minister Ahmed Shaheed as its human rights investigator on Iran.
