Iran rejects IAEA nuke inspection

Iran has rejected an immediate inspection of the Parchin military base to take samples to test for the presence of materials used in the development of nuclear weapons.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparact, Teheran is making efforts to achieve an agreement that the UN agency recognizes Irans right to implement its peaceful nuclear programme. Iran, on its part, will take necessary decisions to remove concerns, the spokesman said.

On Monday, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano called on Iran to grant access to the facilities in Parchin.

On February 13, the two sides failed to reach an agreement on the issue at their talks in Teheran.
