Iran to unveil new military achievements in near future

Iran Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi says the Islamic Republic plans to showcase its new indigenous missiles and other military products, including new bombs, in the near future.
In the near future, air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, bombs and other products of the [Iranian] Defense Ministry will be unveiled, Vahidi told reporters on the sidelines of a Thursday ceremony.

Since the new military products can be used on all types of aircraft, they can play a highly effective role during any possible battle, the defense minister added.
Iran also plans to launch a new indigenous warship and submarine in the near future, Vahidi pointed out.
On February 10, Iran's Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Mehdi Farahi said Iranian forces had successfully tested the countrys latest indigenous air-to-air missile, Fakour, from F14 fighter jets.

The latest version of Irans indigenous surface-to-air missile, Rad (Thunder), was also test-fired on December 31, 2012.

Over the past years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured other nations, especially its neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
