Azerbaijani Majlis to revoke law easing travel restrictions for Iran
g_imageIt is more than 20 years that Azerbaijan has been communicating with Nakhijevan through the territory of Iran, Iranian website Arannews.ir reported.
Azerbaijanis and Iranians residing within 45 kilometers (28 miles) of the border are allowed to visit the neighboring country without a visa, based on the agreement signed in April 2005.

Azerbaijani lawmakers passed a decision to revoke the law that eased travel restrictions for Iranians, while Iran one-sidedly lifted visa requirements for Azerbaijan in 2010, besides, it is more than 20 years that Azerbaijan has been communicating with Nakhijevan through the territory of Iran, said the Iranian website.

We will remind that during a meeting with head of Azerbaijan Migration Organization Fereydun Nabiyev on December 6 in Baku, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen pointed out to the one-sided lifting of visa requirements by Iran for Azerbaijani citizens and demanded solving problems with entering the country faced by Iranian students, tourists and businessmen living in Azerbaijan.

Several days after this meeting, an official of the Cultural Center of Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan was deported from the country.
