Iran army launches a three-day drill along the country’s border with Iraq on Monday, a senior Iranian Army commander says.
The air mobility operation codenamed “Zolfaghar 91” is held on October 29-31 in Gilan-e Gharb district in the western province of Kermanshah.
“This maneuver will be one of a kind and among the most spectacular drills ever held by the Iranian Army,” Brigadier General Saeed Arablou said on Thursday.
Arablou stated that the drill aims to upgrade the combat abilities of the Army forces and display defense capabilities of its various divisions.
The commander stressed that showing the deterrence capabilities and enhancing combat readiness of airborne units in quick action and reaction operations are among other objectives of the drill.
Airborne and heliborne forces and other units of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces will take part in the drill, he was quoted as saying.
