Supreme Leader: Shut oil wells and rely on science to beat sanctions

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called selling crude oil as a way of producing wealth, self-deception, emphasizing that for having a flourishing economy, the country should rely on wealth-creation through science.

Iran’s supreme leader has outlined a new approach to beat Western sanctions — stop selling oil and build knowledge-based industries instead.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated that Iran should stop selling raw materials, including oil, and instead promote “knowledge-based companies which can make a resistant economy more sustainable,” Washington Post reported.

Iran’s leader affirmed that it was important the country reach a point where it could easily shut down its oil wells and stop selling crude products.

“Crude (oil) sales are a trap which we inherited from the years before the (1979 Islamic) Revolution,” Khamenei said to a gathering of researchers and scientists on Sunday evening, according to Khamenei.ir

He added that “unfortunately, the country has been stuck and efforts must be made so that the people of Iran are freed from that trap.”

Stressing on “science” as an endless capital for the country, Supreme leader stated that we should pay more attention to the issue of science and relying on science in the country.

He went on to say that “If science was serious in different sectors, the knowledge-based companies which work, produce, and create wealth based on science, could gradually make the economy flourish.

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the country is in progress and there is no deadlock that can stop Iranian nation from moving forward.
