Annan arrives in Tehran today

United Nations peace envoy Kofi Annan will arrive in Tehran today to meet Iranian officials for talks on the Syria’s crisis, Mehr news agency reported.

Anna’s visit to Iran followed what he described as “positive” talks with Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.

“I just had a positive and constructive discussion with President Assad,” France 24 quoted the United Nations special envoy as saying.

“We agreed an approach which I will share with the opposition,” Annan told reporters. Once again, Annan stressed the important of halting violence and promoting political dialogue — the key points of the plan he put forward in April.

UN peace envoy Kofi Annan will arrive in Tehran’s Mehrabad airport at 7:00 p.m.

In addition to meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, he also meets some other Iranian officials to dialogue and consult on the Syria’s crisis.
