Politicized issue of Parchin, an obstacle for nuke talks to be constructive

Politicized issue of Parchin, an obstacle for nuke talks to be constructive
The more they politicize the issue of Parchin, the less the negotiations will be constructive, because Parchin is beyond Iran's obligations under the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) and it should be worked on carefully, otherwise it creates an obstacle and damages the environment,Ali Asghar Soltanieh, Irans IAEA ambassador said after Fridays talks in Vienna.

After 8-hour meeting between Iran and IAEA in Vienna, IAEA Chief Inspector Herman Nackaerts and Iran's IAEA envoy, Ali Asghar Soltanieh described the outcome of the nuclear talks differently.

Herman Nackaerts said no progress had been made in the meeting aimed at sealing a deal on resuming the IAEA's long-stalled investigation, describing the outcome as "disappointing."

The UN nuclear watchdog added that "no date had been set for a follow-on meeting."

On the other hand, Ali Asghar Soltanieh announced that the two sides agreed to continue their negotiations in future, describing the talks as "intensive," FNA reported.

Concerning the sealing of a framework deal on the arrangements for further investigation into Iran's nuclear activities, the Iranian diplomat said it should be determined with patience and accuracy and by spending more time both sides expert to be able to act more accurately.

Soltanieh referred to the sensitivity and complication of the issue, saying it is necessary that all aspects be considered carefully.

In the Friday's meeting, the UN nuclear watchdog was specifically seeking access to Parchin, a military site south of Tehran, that inspectors believe was used to test high explosives used in simulating the detonation of a nuclear bomb, but Iran denies that it is seeking nuclear weapons and says its facility is strictly for conventional military purposes.

Iranian diplomat stated that IAEA inspectors want to go to places inside Iran beyond what is permitted under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

According to Guardian, the result of the talks is likely to affect the prospects for broader negotiations between Iran and six major powers due to resume in Moscow on 17 June, aimed at finding a compromise over the Iranian uranium enrichment program.
