Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Forces announced that Iran has successfully decrypted all the records of the captured US spy drone and by completely reverse-engineering it, has started to build a copy of it.
According to Press TV, the Iranian military’s electronic warfare unit announced on December 4, 2011 that the country successfully downed the US RQ-170 Sentinel stealth reconnaissance aircraft inside Iran with minimal damage.
The aircraft, designed and developed by the American company Lockheed Martin, had crossed into Iran’s airspace over the border with neighboring Afghanistan.
America repeatedly requested Iran to hand over the aircraft, and Iran copied the Sentinel as a toy and sent one to the US as a mocking response to America’s request.
Then, the Pentagon stated that Iranians would not succeed in decoding the spy drone’s memory and intelligence devices because of measures taken to limit the intelligence value of drones operating over hostile territory.
Now, discouraging his counterparts in Pentagon, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said “the Americans should be aware to what extent we have infiltrated the plane,” FNA reported.
Hajizadeh also provided four cues to let the Americans know how deep Iranian experts could penetrate into the intelligence systems and devices of this drone.
One of the cues was that the drone flew over Osama Bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan two weeks before the al-Qaida leader was killed there in May 2011 by U.S. Navy SEALs.
A number of nations, especially China and Russia, who are after the military technology Tehran extracted through studying the drone, have requested Iran to provide them with information on the capture US drone, Ahmad Karimpour, an adviser to Iran’s defense minister, said on Friday.
