Iran had stopped oil exports to Italy, Spain, Netherlands, France, Greece and Portugal in retaliation for an EU's oil embargo, Iran's media reports said on Wednesday

The announcement came after Director General of West Europe Affaires at Foreign Ministry, Hassan Tajik, summoned six EU envoys for talks on different issues including the European sanctions against Tehran over its peaceful nuclear program.

But foreign media claimed that Iran's Oil Ministry denied the report on the country stopping its crude exports to six European countries on Wednesday.

Responding to them, Iran's leading independent news agency, FNA quoted an informed source saying Iran's oil�valves�closed�on�six�European countries.

On January 23, European Union adopted the oil embargo against Tehran.

At the meeting with six EU envoys, Hassan Tajik said sanctions cannot affect Iranians. We can instantly replace oil customers if the EU member states ban Iranian crude oil. Rather it will have an adverse impact on European people who are facing a harsh winter.

Tajik said he had conveyed the western ambassadors Iran's message that European people should know that if Iran changes destinations of the oil it gives to them, the responsibility will rest with the European governments themselves.

"Upon cutting Iranian oil exports to the West, they will definitely face difficulties, and we hope they will open their eyes to the move and stop taking illogical measures against Iran," Deputy Chairman of the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Hossein Ebrahimi said on Wednesday, press tv reported.
