TEHRAN Jan 28 (Shana): Iran will need to build 3,000 kilometers of natural gas pipeline for South Pars gas field, deputy of National Iranian Gas Company said on Tuesday.
Abdol-Hossein Samari said the pipeline is required once five new phases of South Pars gas field become operational with a capacity of 204 mcm.

Moreover, 15 to 20 new gas pressure booster stations will be established, Samari added.

According to the NIGC official, pipeline and gas pressure stations will require six billion dollars of credit.

“Today, there are 71 gas pressure booster stations for every 34,000 kilometers of transmission pipeline. In the coldest days of winter, only 52

stations were operational because of feedstock shortage,” he said.

Samari said the country will face a massive flow of gas in the future when phases 12, 15, 16, 17 and 18 come on-stream.
