Iran’s Minister of Labor, Cooperatives and Welfare Ali Rabiei says the Islamic Republic will never bow to pressure and stop supporting Syria.

“Regional peace is more important to us than anything else and the current visit by [Syria’s Minister of Social Affairs Kinda] al-Shammat to Iran … indicates that Iran will not yield to pressure to provide Syria with humanitarian and moral aid and to offer psychological help,” Rabiei said on the sidelines of a meeting with his Syrian counterpart in Tehran on Sunday.
“Terrorism is a serious issue in the region and in Syria,” he added.
He emphasized that Iran’s support for Syria under the current circumstances is a “sign of regional stability and peace.”

Rabiei stated that undemocratic changes cannot be made in the region through international pressure.

Syria has been gripped by deadly crisis since 2011.

Reports indicate that the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside the country.

The United Nations says more than four million Syrians will be forced out of their homes in 2014 by the escalating conflict in the country that has displaced millions so far.
