The Iran Project- Iranian lawmakers summon Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and  Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alavi to explain over EU Parliamentarians trip to Iran.
Iranian hardliners have criticized the Foreign Ministry for a meeting between the European Parliamentary delegation and lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh and filmmaker Jafar Panahi.

The EU delegation met with Panahi and Sotoudeh, the 2012 winners of the EU’s Sakharov prize for human rights at embassy of Greece in Tehran. They  were both jailed following the Iranian election protests of 2009.

A  delegation from the European parliament traveled to Tehran  for a six-day visit. It was the first such visit to Iran in six years.
