Iranian radio, TV programs nominated for ABU Prizes

TEHRAN, Oct. 6 (MNA) – Four Iranian radio and TV programs have been shortlisted for the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes, the ABU has announced.
“We Are Actors”, a radio program which focus on those who are interested in acting and cinema, has been selected for the Interactive Program section.

“Radio Café”, a radio program on literature, art, cinema, and theater, is among the finalists in the On Air Personality section.

Both programs have been produced by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

Two programs produced by Iran’s Sorush Multimedia Corporation (SMC) will also be competing for the ABU Prizes.

“A Mother’s Notes”, a radio program which spotlights mothers’ concerns about the future of their children, has been selected for the Jingles/Promos/Station IDs category.

“Twins with 11 years age difference”, a TV reportage about twins born through IVF, has been nominated for the prize in the News Reporting category.

Fifty-two programs from other countries will also be contending for the prizes.

Winners will be announced during a ceremony at ABU’s General Assemble in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 28.

The organizers aim to promote the production of radio and TV programs of a high standard to raise educational and cultural levels and strengthen international understanding among ABU member states.

The ABU, which is a non-profit, non-government professional association, was established in 1964 to assist the development of broadcasting in the region.
