28 Sep 2013 - 13:30

The Iranian war flick Berlin-7 has been selected to contend for awards at the two international film festivals in Spain and Brazil.
Directed by Ramtin Lavafipour, the movie will be presented in the competition section of the 58th edition of the Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain that is to be held from October 19 through 26, 2013.

The film is also slated to represent Iranian cinema in the Sao Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil running from October 18 to 31.

Produced by Iran’s Visual Media Institute, the movie with anti-war theme depicts the story of some Iraqi migrants trying to survive the US invasion of Iraq.

The film chronicles an Iraqi family whose members have become the victims of US-led war in Iraq and abandon their country to seek refuge in Berlin.

While Iranian-German cast contributed to the film, most parts of the movie were shot in Germany.

The movie was premiered at the 31st Iran’s most important film presentation and competition, Fajr International Film Festival, and took the Best Movie Soundtrack Award that went to Hamed Sabet.

The festival’s Islamic Human Rights Prize also went to Lavafipour’s second cinematic creation, Berlin-7.
