TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian and Cuban officials in a meeting in Tehran underlined the necessity for using all potentials and opportunities to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

The issue was raised in a meeting between Ezzatollah Yousefian Molla and Charge d'Affaires of Cuba in Tehran David Paulovich Escalona on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Yousefian Molla referred to the bilateral good ties between Iran and Cuba, and underlined necessity of using capacities of both countries to expand bilateral relations in all fields.

He also called for continuation of parliamentary friendship groups' support for expansion of bilateral friendly relations in all fields.

Paulovich Escalona, for his part, expressed pleasure with expanding trend of mutual ties, and called for deepening communication between Cuba and Iran.

He also called for using the existing opportunities to consolidate solidarity among the two nations.

Iran has sought to expand ties and cooperation with the Latin American states in the recent years.

In line with the same policy, former Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had several official trips to major Latin American countries, including Brazil, Cuba, Bolivia and Venezuela.

During his visits, Ahmadinejad signed a number of agreements with the leaders of Latin America in a bid to strengthen Iran's foothold in South America.
