Tehran, Aug 24, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif urged international community to react to use of chemical weapons in Syria by terrorists and condemn it.
According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino, in a telephone conversation, felicitated appointment of Mr. Zarif and wished him success.

In the conversation, the two sides discussed international and regional issues such as Iran’s nuclear issue, crisis in Syria and use of chemical weapons against innocent people of the country.

Mrs. Bonino condemned use of chemical weapons in Syria and called for UN investigation of it.

She also referred to old relations between the two countries and called for more consultations between Rome and Tehran on important regional and international issues.

Zarif, for his part, strongly condemned use of chemical weapons and called it contrary to human principles and international regulations.

He said, We are in close contact with Syrian government and they have reassured us that they had never used such inhuman weapons and would cooperate with the UN experts to visit the area hit by chemical weapons.
