28 Jul 2013 - 14:29

The wife of an international student at MUN is making her mark in St. John's  as an artist. Sama Salehian, originally from Iran, is in St. John's with her husband who is completing a PhD at MUN. A professional artist, Sama has extensive training and art instructing experience.
Sama specializes in face painting, interior design, make-up, stage design, and theatre decoration, as well as more traditional canvas painting. She's also uses her talents for humanitarian causes. Most recently, she and her husband Masood set up at the Avalon Mall to provide face painting by donation to raise funds for the MUN Campus Food Bank.

Her husband Masood says face painting is a big part of her work in Canada.

He says Sama has been painting for 15 years and face-painting for 5.

Sama and Masood moved here two years from Iran and hope to stay here after he is finished his degree.

He says they would like to stay in Canada and work.
