Afghan President Hamid Karzai has accused other countries of trying to divide Afghanistan into Taliban "fiefdoms” raising fears that Britain is realizing the so-called “plan C” for Afghanistan.
Media reports revealed back in September 2012 that Britain and the US are plotting to divide Afghanistan among themselves after they pull out their military forces from the country in 2014 based on proposals, termed “Plan C”.

The plan, proposed by British Conservative MP and Foreign Office Aide Tobias Ellwood, would divide Afghanistan into eight separate “kingdoms” that will be overseen by a foreign government.

According to the Plan C, a “reorganized” Afghanistan would see the formation of the eight zones around the “economic hubs” of Kabul, Kandahar, Herat, Kunduz, Khost, Jalalabad, Bamyan and Mazar-i-Sharif, some of which ruled by the Taliban.

At the time analysts warned that the move will hand power back to insurgents rather than helping Afghans achieve democracy, as was pledged before the US-led invasion of their country in 2001.

However, analysts now seem to be facing their worst fears as Karzai warns of incoming “fiefdoms”.

“We have heard rumors and we have seen some efforts by some countries... Since six months, there have been efforts underway to bring fiefdoms into Afghanistan," Karzai said in a joint press conference with British PM David Cameron on Saturday.

He added this is being done through the Taliban or others who are "handing over one or two places to Taliban”.

He made the remarks after the insurgents opened a “political office” in the Qatari capital of Doha.

Karzai was angered by the move and suspended talks with Washington on a security deal with the US, suggesting Qatar has accepted the establishment of the Taliban mission in coordination with the US government.

Meanwhile, at the press conference, Cameron said that any end to the Afghan conflict will need the cooperation of Taliban, stressing London is ready to see them as part of a political process in Afghanistan.
