Eminent Iranian miniaturist and illuminator Mostafa Aqamiri is planning to mount an art show of his latest creations in the French capital, Paris.
A collection of Aqamiri’s works with the Qur’anic and religious themes is slated to be showcased at the exhibit that will be held in upcoming months.

The artist had earlier held an exhibition of his 70 art pieces at Iran’s Cultural Attaché’s Office in Paris and at the UNESCO Headquarters in 2011.

A graduate of handicrafts and Persian art, Mostafa Aqamiri teaches art at several universities and academies in Tehran and other Iranian cities.

Born in a family of artists, Aqamiri has received numerous national and international awards along with his brother Ali Reza.

The 45-year-old artist Aqamiri was awarded the gold medal along with an honorable mention at the 4th Sharjah Biennial for the Art of Arabic Calligraphy in August 2010.

He was also honored with the second award at the 2011 International Illumination and Miniature Festival of Algiers.

Iranian miniature is a richly detailed miniature painting which features religious or Persian mythological.

Miniature painting became a significant Persian form in the 13th century, and the highest point in the tradition was reached in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Iranian illumination is also a unique form of art and has no parallel in the world. It is known as drawing beautiful patterns of plants or geometrical shapes on the margins of books.
