Iranian presidential candidate Mohammad Reza Aref has offered four special plans for reducing the unemployment rate in Iran if he is elected president.
Describing the rate of unemployment in the country as “worrisome,” Aref said on Monday that he has made plans for creating at least one million job opportunities every year.
“We have planned the creation of at least one million job opportunities in the plan that I have presented to Iranians, namely the Iran of Tomorrow. And the job opportunities target the youth. We have planned four special programs that mainly attempt to create jobs for the youth. One concerns tourism industry,” Aref stated.
The presidential candidate said other plans include expanding the information technology sector, developing the energy industry and making use of Iran’s geographic position.

“The average annual revenue from planes using Iran’s airspace was USD 500 million, but because of reasons mostly concerning administrative issues, we practically lost this opportunity or could not use it properly.”

In Iran’s June 14 presidential election, Aref faces seven rivals, namely Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, President of the Center for Strategic Research of the Expediency Council Hassan Rohani, lawmaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, Secretary of Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei, former Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election.
