US double standard: Riots v. sovereignty

6 Jan 2018 - 17:17

IRNA – The US envoy at the UN has supported the rioters in Iran while saying that countries are 'sovereign'.

'In the past week, what has happened on the ground throughout the nation of Iran is something the world must take note of,' said Nikki Haley whose country's president has called Iranians 'a terrorist nation'.

Deciding to forget about the fact that the US government has put Iranians, among many other nations, under unfair sanctions, and caused them numerous problems, Haley added, 'Human rights are not the gift of governments. They are the inalienable right of the people themselves… When the rights of the people are denied, the people rightly resist.'

Without referring to the causes of insecurity in Syria, she said, 'We have seen that repeatedly throughout human history. The case of Syria provides a horrible recent testament to this fact.'

Ignoring all the attempts made by Iran to fight terrorists, such as Daesh, Haley, whose country spends billions of dollars in wars and destruction of other countries, claimed that Iran's attempts was solely to support President Bashaar al-Assad and added 'the Iranian regime spends at least $6 billion every year propping up the murderous Assad regime in Syria.'

She also claimed Iran spends millions on anti-terrorism in Iraq and elsewhere failing to acknowledge that Iran was the main force behind the failure of Daesh terrorists.
