Larijani lands in Turkey to attend APA meeting

21 Nov 2017 - 13:24

MNA – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani arrived in Turkey on Tuesday to attend the 10th meeting of Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

He was greeted by Turkish Parliament speaker, Istanbul Mayor and Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Mohammad Ebrahim Teherian at Ataturk Airport.

Turkey will host the meetings of the Assembly for two years after Cambodia’s turn ended last year.

Some Iranian MPs are also accompanying Parliament speaker on his three-day trip.

According to the APA official website, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) was born in 2006 at the Seventh Session of the Association of Asian Parliamentary for Peace (AAPP). In other words, the APA is continuation of an organization which was established in 1999. The APA comprises, in 2007, of 42 Member Parliaments and 16 observers. Each Member Parliament has a specific number of seats in the Assembly based on the size of their population.
