Tehran prosecutor elaborates on conditions of some security convicts

18 Oct 2017 - 11:42

IRNA – Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi on Tuesday elaborated on the conditions of some convicts being held in Iranian prisons for security offenses.

On conditions of Soheil Arabi, Tehran prosecutor said that Arabi has insulted Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Shia Imams and the holy Quran.

'Arabi has also been found guilty of insulting the Iranian government officials, waging propaganda against the Islamic system and distribution of immoral images,' Jafari Dolatabadi said.

Criticizing those who claim Arabi's rights have been violated, Tehran prosecutor said: 'His preliminary verdict was execution and modifying this verdict by the Supreme Court to prison indicates the independence of judges and the resolve of the judiciary as well to issue verdicts based on law.'

Dolatabadi also referred to the case of Reza Shahabi, saying he has been charged with cooperation with hostile groups through compiling security information and sending them to those groups and receiving money in return.

On the file of Nazanin Zaghari, Tehran prosecutor said that her husband is an English national and she herself has dual nationality from Britain and has been working for that country's system.

She has been tasked with online journalist training for BBC Persian which has aimed to recruit and train individuals for propagandist activities against Iran, the official said.

Sending a letter by former UK Prime Minister David Cameron for her release indicates the links between her and the British government and the significance of this convict for that country.
