IRGC General sees Trump’s UN speech as admission of Iran’s power

26 Sep 2017 - 16:25

Tasnim – Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami described US president’s comments in his address to the UN General Assembly as an admission that Iran is an indomitable power.

The fact that the US president passively talked about Iran’s power in his recent UN speech reveals that his tone not only was not threatening, but also amounted to an acknowledgement of weakness in the face of an indomitable power, General Salami said in a military ceremony on Tuesday.

He also lauded the sustainable security and calm in Iran amid the chaos and insecurity that have engulfed the Middle East.

Last week, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described Trump’s UN comments as “ignorant hate speech”, noting that his address was not worthy of a reply.

“Trump’s ignorant hate speech belongs in medieval times-not the 21st Century UN -unworthy of a reply. Fake empathy for Iranians fools no one,” Zarif added.
