16 Aug 2017 - 11:19

MNA – Iran’s security chief Ali Shamkhani deemed the role of Hezbollah significant in defeating Takfiri terrorists in Syria, hailing the Resistance Movement’s efforts in undermining extremist and terrorist activities in Lebanon.

Chairman of the Supreme Security Council of Iran, Ali Shamkhani, made the remarks in an interview with Lebanon’s Al-Ahed News Agency on Tuesday, adding that the extensive popularity of Hezbollah movement in the Muslim world and Arab countries have provoked the wrath of the Israeli regime and its mercenaries.

Shamkhani congratulated the Lebanese people and government on the 11th anniversary of Lebanon’s victory in the 33-day war waged by Israeli regime in 2006, saying the victory has been an inspiration to Palestinian people and resistance groups, particularly in Gaza.

Shamkhani also highlighted Iran’s unwavering support to the Resistance Movement and all countries which are at the forefront of combating terrorism in the region.

The Iranian senior official further criticized the US for its double-standard approach toward fighting terrorism, saying Washington’s policies have proved that the country is one of the main sponsors of terrorism in the region.
