Iran slams US sanctions bill as ‘regressive’, ‘unlawful’

3 Aug 2017 - 12:59

MNA– FM spokesman Ghasemi has slammed the recently signed anti-Iranian sanctions bill by US president Trump as a ‘regressive’, ‘unlawful’, ‘inhumane’ and ‘illogical’ move.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said on Thursday that the sanctions bill is one case of the latest anti-Iranian measures taken by the United States in clear hostility toward the Iranian culture and civilization as well as an insult to all independent nations in the world.

Ghasemi stressed that the recent US bill has been criticized by many countries including Washington’s own allies, and will affect the successful implementation of the nuclear deal.

He also noted the recent session of Iran’s JCPOA monitoring committee and the decisions made in response to the US sanctions bill, adding “Iran will not remain silent on the violation of JCPOA by the US and a series of reciprocal measures will be soon announced by Iranian parliament and government.”

Ghasemi went on to add, “Iran will continue its resistance against US hostile moves and make efforts in earnest toward the establishment of stability and security in the region.”

“Iran reserves the right to a reciprocal measure against the US government’s anti-Iranian moves,” he stressed, adding that the Islamic Republic will not fall into the trap of the “ominous triangle of Arrogance-Zionism-Wahhabi terrorism”.

Ghasemi further advised American authorities to stop endangering global peace and security and instead focus on resolving their own various internal problems.
