Iran, Turkey examine fight against narcotic drugs

IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Turkey Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian on Thursday discussed expansion of cooperation between the two countries in fight against drugs trafficking in a meeting with head of Turkey’s General Directorate of Security Selami Altinolk.


The Iranian ambassador highlighted regional developments and examined venues to increase level of mutual relations and cooperation between the two sides police forces.

He also thanked Turkish police who helped rescue some Iranian hostages in Turkey and called for expansion of cooperation in fight with those sharing hands in such crimes.

Such illegal acts mostly take place under the pretext of facilitating immigration to Europe and the deceived people will be trapped by criminals, he said.

Since about two millions of Iranian nationals visit Turkey each year, the ambassador called Turkish police to support and respect them.

The Turkish official, for his part, stressed the need for expansion of cooperation between the two countries’ police forces.
